The "Queens of Poker" are the WIVES who allow us this activity on our Saturdays and who ALL think they are better Poker Players than those of us who talk about it to the world. Unfortunately for us - they do kick our tails at the game regularly.
Vic Porcelli "The Golden Voice"
Vic learned how to play poker at a very young age with relatives. Seven card stud was the first game he learned. Now so many years later he enjoys many varieties of poker including Omaha, Razz, Deuce to Seven Lowball, and or course Texas Hold Em. Vic is more of a tournament player than a cash player. The strategy of building chips and a tighter game is more appealing. Live poker is always preferred, but Vic plays a lot of online poker on Full Tilt Poker.
His wife Jessica our first "Queen of Poker" is an aggressive poker player who Vic quite often says is better than himself and does not like her blinds being diddled with. Chris his son is as talented as dad and is pursuing a career in the performance arts. Two daughters Mariel (a singing sensation) and Mia (just a sensation) round out the Porcelli family. Their efforts with many charities are highlighted every year with The Saint Baldrick's efforts to garner hair for those stricken with cancer where this year Vic finally lost his own lock as well as being the emcee.
Vic's radio career is one to be envied - after growing up in the New Jersey/New York area Vic joined one of the Top New York City stations as a DJ and was recruited to the St Louis market to host the ever so popular "Porcelli's Deli". Vic then successfully made the transition to the talk show scene taking first the am drive show host position for a few years and now co hosts a sports talk show "The Men's Room " M-F on St Louis's number one sports talk radio station. The podcast for The Men's Room Best is a collection of the best of the shows broadcast. An excellent and well rounded broadcaster Vic's passion with poker is obvious when you hear his voice on the airwaves.
"Missouri" Mike Eise
Mike is a 2009 World Series of Poker Champion and Bracelet event winner and has since placed in the cash on the WPT, HPT and numerous individual casino events. While a former pipefitter Mike began his family with wife Katie and daughters Sarah, , and Now at the top of two professions Mike has chosen to be a professional gambler. He is also accomplished at the game of craps.
Andy Kazen "Big Slick"
Andy has been playing poker for 20+ years and took an active interest when he lived in LA. He would go the casinos there occasionally and got his ass kicked usually in seven card stud. Won the 1st tourney I ever played 15 years ago in Lake Tahoe.
Switched to Hold em as that became THE Game first in limit and then few years ago to NL which is what I play 90%. Now he is a good player! This past May was his best month with two wins at the local casinos and a 2nd out of 100 to his wife who won! He loves to play, to learn and to talk poker! Vic and Andy became buddies talking poker at the radio station they worked at during breaks.
While in radio he felt the need to help a cause that was highly underfunded and appreciated with all the help they could get. He combined his passion for Poker with a need to help the Alzheimer's Association and created the Alzheimer's Poker Challenge. His radio team of five challenged any company to beat them in a five on five match monthly at the Ameristar Casino. They would make a $500 contribution to the Alzheimer's Association. They raised over $8,000 for this great cause. Andy is always looking for the next charity opportunity!
He has been married 20 years to his lovely and occasional poker playing wife Leslie another of our "Queens of Poker". Daughter Rachel is 14 years old and cannot wait to drive. We have lived in St. Louis since 2000. I have been in radio sales and sales management for over 25 years. He now sells a sales management software program to Radio and TV stations called Efficio.
"The Insider" Cody Duffey
Cody moved to the St. Louis area in 1990 and graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1997. He spent a total of 8 years in the banking business, both retail and commercial as well as another 5 at one of the local St. Louis casinos and now works for a local Fortune 500 company; enjoys having evenings and weekends off! He started playing cards when only 8 years old, bellied up around the dinner table with the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. It was only nickel-dime, but after 27 years he has seen a lot of hands!!
Cody's wife Jessica has her talents at the poker tables as well and also shoots some pretty mean pool. They have two children Trent "The Drummer" and Finley "The Cutie" and have the distinction of being the Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes last year.
"The Young Gun Aggressor" Craig Hogard
Craig is The Bachelor of the group and does not support a wife and children - probably the real reason for his aggressive style on the tables. He also works in the radio business and in addition to his broadcasting, production and engineering background is an accomplished breeder of dogs. Yes
he is the breeder of Old English Sheepdogs - no wonder there is not yet a wife!
"Irish" Kevin Smith
Kevin loves his Guinness and he loves his poker, and sometimes at the same time. Like his Irish ancestors Smith is the sentimental one of the bunch, which explains why we loves to play 8-9 suited pre-flop (it was the hand that he won his first big tournament with). When he is not waxing poeticly at the poker table Smith is researching the business side of casinos and poker, a world he has been involved with for nearly 10 years. He saw the online poker rooms skyrocket to popularity in the early 2000s with his work with renown consultancy firm River City Group.
He grew up playing Tripoli around is grandpa's kitchen table on Friday nights and still has a love for that game. In addition to his love of poker and abilioty to tell a good story, he brings to the radio show cast a background in hosting a variety of sports-themed talk shows. Kevin is the unofficial "web master" for TapTheFelt.com
Kevin's wife Kelly meanwhile is no strange to the poker table either, often times making respectable showings at the large tournaments that tend to spring up at nearly every family function.
"The Rocket Scientist" Siegfried Stief
Sieg is in fact a rocket scientist, who during a twenty year career with the US Air Force managed Space Launch Operations as well as helped in developing the commercial space launch licensing regulations for the US Department of Transportation. During the turmoil of the late 1980's he also helped in developing the recovery plans for the first space shuttle accident and served on the White House directed and NASA sponsored Space Exploration Initiative.
Also an accomplished poker player, Sieg has played on the WSOP Circuit and has cashed in a number of casino sponsored tournaments - recognizing the growth of poker sieg and Vic began Game On Network Entertainment - GONE to provide fresh, informative and entertaining radio to the internet.
Sieg's life partner Virginia (Ginny) is a regular at the tables and has become quite an accomplished NLHE player. Their daughter Rachel won her first live tournament despite claiming to never watch the poker TV broadcasts at home.
